What is a UK dependent visa?
The UK dependent Visa enables the entry and residence of a dependent child, spouse, unmarried partner, or same-sex partner of any person who is a citizen, permanent resident, or holding a work or study visa in the UK.
UK Business dependent visa | UK Expansion Worker visa dependent
A partner and children of a UK Expansion Worker visa holder can apply as their dependent if they are eligible. However, to apply for a dependent visa you are required to demonstrate a certain amount to support your stay in the UK. That comes to £285 for your dependent partner who is coming to the UK, £315 for the dependent child, and £200 for each additional child.
UK Student dependent visa
To apply as a dependent of a person who is in the UK on a UK Student visa, you will require £490, as the application cost. Additionally, you are required to demonstrate a certain amount of money to support your stay in the UK. How much money you need depends on which area of the UK your sponsor is studying. You must have either:
- £845 a month (for up to 9 months) if your sponsor is studying in London, or
- £680 a month (for up to 9 months) if your sponsor is studying outside London.
UK Skilled Worker dependent visa
For a Skilled Worker visa which is granted for up to 3 years, you need to pay £719 for the application fee, to apply as a dependent, if the application is submitted from outside the UK.
If the UK Skilled Worker visa is granted for more than 3 years, then you need to pay £1,235 for the application fee, to apply as a dependent, if the application is submitted from outside the UK.
Eligibility for UK dependent visa
To qualify as a dependent you must be the Spouse, Unmarried Partner or Civil Partner of the sponsor.
Children under the age of 18 are eligible for dependent visas.

Processing time for dependent visa
From outside the UK, a dependent visa could take 12 weeks to be processed, from the date of your visa appointment.
From inside the UK, the current service standard is 8 weeks, from the appointment date.
The priority service expedites the decision to 5 working days and the super priority expedites the decision to 24 hours.
