UK Innovator Visa is a visa category for non-British residents who are experienced business persons, and are looking to establish a business in the United Kingdom. With the innovator visa category already functional, it makes sense that many aspiring entrepreneurs have questions about this route.

FAQ’s – Innovator Visa UK

Do I need to have access to 50,000 Pounds?

That depends. The answer is yes if:
– You are applying to enter the UK for the first time from overseas; or
– You already have a Leave to Stay under the Innovator Visa category, and are applying to extend your Leave to pursuing a brand new business venture.

The applicant does NOT require access to 50,000 Pounds if:
– The applicant has a Leave to Stay under the Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Visa (NOT the Tier 1 Entrepreneur) or Startup Visa and is applying to extend their stay under the Innovator Visa category instead; or
– The applicant has an Innovator Visa and is applying for extension on the same.

Can I apply for an innovator visa without professional legal assistance?

There is no law stating you shouldn’t. But I wouldn’t recommend it. The Innovator and Startup visa applications are more tedious than you might imagine, and they are not handed out as easily as one might think. The acceptance of your application comes down to some skilled evidencing and documentation work, along with the occasional loophole finding, should you be facing any complicated circumstances; the kind of work that would require a trained professional.
