Overview: India young professionals scheme visa ballot system

On Tuesday, the British government announced the start of the second round of the India Young Professionals Scheme visa for those aged between 18 to 30 and are seeking visas to the UK.

The British High Commission in New Delhi tweeted that the ballot will be available until 1:30 p.m. on July 27. The British High Commission stated in the tweet, “The second ballot of the Young Professionals Scheme is now OPEN.”

It also mentioned, “If you are an Indian national between 18-30 years of age with a graduate or postgraduate qualification, consider applying for the India Young Professionals Scheme visa. Ballot closes at 1.30 pm on July 27.”

What is the India young professionals scheme visa?

This joint UK-India scheme, which permits Indian individuals with a graduate or postgraduate qualification to live and work in the UK for up to two years, was formally introduced this year in February. Candidates will be able to visit the UK at any time while their visa is valid, as well as leave and return at any point during their stay.

The scheme has 3,000 places available for the year 2023, and UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) stated that the majority of them were filled in the first vote, which took place in February. Meanwhile, the remaining positions will be drawn at random from the July ballot.

Candidates must visit the United Kingdom within six months of applying for their visa.

The application price is £259 (about Rs 27,000), with extra fees including a healthcare premium of £940 (approximately Rs 98,000) and proof that the applicant has £2,530 (approximately Rs 2,60,000) in personal savings.
